Sangli Turmeric Powder

From India's turmeric capital — GI-tagged since 2018.

GI-tagged originNo added colourNo fillersSingle-origin

Sangli is the premier turmeric hub of India, and its haldi has carried a Geographical Indication tag since 2018. Ours is grown in the belt's black, well-drained soil — much of it on fields our founder converted from sugarcane — then boiled, sun-dried and ground whole. No polishing agents, no added colour, no fillers: just the bright, earthy haldi that Maharashtrian kitchens are built on.

Origin · Sangli, Maharashtra (GI-tagged, 2018)

Grown on our own and partner fields in the Kolhapur–Sangli belt and ground from sun-dried fingers.

Why this jar earns its place

नैसर्गिक लाभ · natural goodness

Curcumin, straight from the black soil

Turmeric's golden colour comes from curcumin — the compound the spice is studied and prized for. Sangli's well-drained black soil grows haldi with strong, reliable curcumin and a deep aroma, which is exactly why the region earned its GI tag. Ours is ground whole from boiled, sun-dried fingers: no polishing, no colour, no fillers.

  • Grown in India's GI-tagged turmeric capital since generations
  • Unpolished and undyed — the colour you see is curcumin, not lead chromate
  • Ground whole, so the natural oils that carry aroma stay in the powder

Haridra, the everyday protector

In Ayurveda turmeric is haridra — one of the most-used herbs in the whole tradition, reached for daily rather than saved for illness. It is described as purifying and warming, applied to skin, stirred into milk, and cooked into nearly everything as quiet, constant maintenance.

  • Traditionally stirred into warm milk (haldi doodh) for rest and recovery
  • Part of daily cooking as everyday internal upkeep, not medicine
  • The same haldi used in ubtan and ritual — purity matters here

The workhorse of the phodni

This is the turmeric your dal, bhaji and phodni are built on. Half a teaspoon in hot oil blooms instantly; the colour is bright without being neon, the flavour earthy without bitterness. One jar in the masala box does the whole week's cooking.
